Noticing what looks like salt on your car in the winter

by Jbhayes about July 12 - report

Noticed this this morning. Is this a sign of nute lockout? It's just around the bottom half of the pot. Haven't seen this in any of my research material. Happy Friday

OH BOY OH BOY ...NUTE LOCKOUT !!!  That ain't nothin but a dirty fab pot. I'm sure salts could be found on it though. At least it's on the outside of the pot.  Peace out

It's not a very good pic but that's all white like Salk. No dirt on the pot. It's inside a tent not sure how one would get dirt all over the outside of a pot

Yeah dirty was a bad description. Dirty from salts would have been more accurate. If the above growth is good I wouldn't be to concerned. You will see lock out in the leaves first. Do a EC test if needed.

your fine man!  fabric/cloth containers will soak up water and everything in it when ya get water run off towards bottom of containers..it has to go some wherez..lot of folks wash them when not in use..it comes right out in washing machine from what i hear..lol..i just use plastic..plastic containers get that stuff build up around drain holes too..easy to remove

It's salt build up. One of the reasons we flush is to get the remaining nutes (if any) and the residual salt build up. Just like you sweat through your shirt & when it dries up you deer the salt left behind because it can't evaporate.

yes. if you’re using say plastic pots with drain holes on the side you can see the salt build up there too. from what i read, maybe, that having 20-30% runoff from feeding w nutes is the same as a flush to a degree.

It’s salt and mineral buildup. Nothing to worry about.

Does it taste like salt? If it looks like salt and it tastes like salt it’s probably salt. This is why I feed to run off and it’s not uncommon to see it on the outside of the bag. I think I would worry if I didn’t

Its better than checking to see if your cows are getting enough salt. Besides, you scrap a little off with your finger then ask your wife "does this salt taste funny to you"

I water to run off everytime. Get roughly 15%, water daily. It's in 60-70% coco and the rest perlite.

I grow in approximately 70/30 coco to perlite and I feed every day. The bags look like hell at the end of the grow so I toss them. The wife wont let me put them in the washer and for the price of 10-12 bags it aint worth it

Nothing to worry about. That is the nutrient salts getting hung in the fabric. Carry on my friend!
