Auto flower flavour profiles

by Patches666 about June 17 - report

Hi everyone I'm new here, I was just wondering if there was anyone who had a lot of experience with auto flowers and if anyone could tell me if there are any genuinely different smelling/tasting strains, I've had a few.Glu scout cookies AFsweet tooth AFSKUNK #1 AFOg Kush AFDark Devil AFAnd so far it's been hard to tell any difference, they all have that underlying taste and I suppose my question is, do all autos have that almost peppery flavour? Can I get more variety of flavour from autos or should I cut my losses and go photo from now on? Cheers.

Hey man welcome to portal! Most people who grow auto's do so cause they really cant support a solid 12hr dark period. As far a certain smells and taste, depends on the grower and what they use to increase their terpines. All strains are different and have their own unique taste and smell your just gonna have to find what's best for you.I personally think autos suck but it's my opinion. I do however believe that you would be better off with photoperiod growing.

Yeah, I am starting to think the same, I was mainly doing autos just with the level of ease, just set and forget, but I'm more of a connossior and really appreciate the different terpines, and I have found the autos fall a little short, it's a shame as I ...  more

And for the record, if your gonna stick with auto flowers, go look somewhere else other then nirvana. The past few nirvana auto flower grows I've seen of late were very unstable, didnt auto flower and the leaves and plants looked like shit with all kinds ...  more

I use sweet seeds and another mob I can't remember, but I'll definitely keep it in mind, I'm.going to switch up the nutrients and see what that does for me, thanks for the input!

Based on what I did last year, I promise you don't have to put up with that drab flavor and aroma. Get some terpinator. I shared some super skunk auto finished with terpinator with buddies and they smiled so big their ears were wiggling.

regarding Tepinator, how do you feel aboot usage? do you go full strength as they advise? I understand you should go full strength or not at all on usage

It depends on the strain for me, some plants like Papaya have weak branches so I like that Terpinator has adds a little extra K to beef up the branches in Veg, for those types I use it at minimum strength thru veg and then ramp up in flower. The Haze plan...  more

I would definitely use full strength in the last 4-5 weeks. Idk how much weight it adds but that super skunk was a lot heavier than it looks...increased trics I guess.

Yeah I'm 100% going to add terpinator, I'm also going to swap all my nutrients as I'm using flora nova. Only problem is I'm in Aus and I'm running DWC and it's not exactly above board here hahaha

Don't listen to the photoperiod spew. Photoperiod growers lack the skill to get large yields out of Autoflowers so they say bad things about them..I assure you it takes patience and skill to grow autoflowers with yields that rivial photoperiods. Autoflower don't do well with stress. The more stress applied to them in their short life the lower the yield.. Growing autoflowers correctly can reward you with many more variaties on hand in a years time in smaller spaces. I've grown all of Nirvana's Autoflower strains in 18 months and several twice in a 2x4 and now a 4x4..I grow for medical purpose for myself and a now deseased friend with liver cancer.(She started RSO too late in her illness.Chemo killed her.)  That being said if I were groweing for profit or recreation I would go back to growing photoperids. Its much easier to grow photo's and cost way less electricity....https://medium.com/@fast_buds/7-tips-and-tricks-to-maximize-yields-in-autoflowers-71eabe08bfec

Flavor is a product of terpenes andterpenes have different amounts for each cultivar. Turpines are present in auto flowers photoperiods roses and lavender so have fun with your research. I chase them all the time. Nice question. Please remember they are volatile so act accordingly.

Yeah I'm going to change nutrients so I can see if it's that. Maybe do a more thorough flush. I read because it's DWC I don't have to flush as long but I'll be doing a two week flush from now on

  • 4.760

    justme 4.760 points - June 17

Terpinator starting when they begin to flower at 5ml per gallon and then add 5ml per gallon each week until you reach the target of 30ml per gallon in week 6 then 30ml per gallon until you start your flush has worked great for me. I have never run it in veg. I buy it by the gallon. It is a little cheaper that way per plant. It really piles on the flavor in my grows. As far as autos are concerned, I have grown both. I have nothing against autos but with 4 more weeks of veg with photoperiod plants you can easily double or triple your yield and you decide how big they get before flipping to flower. However, they will need 12 hours of uninterrupted darkness. Not even a pinhole of light during their dark cycles. You also want have that Rudulis genetics with photoperiod plants that seen to me too water the strain genetics down. If you look at both sides of the genetics pool for each strain in the photoperiod plants and then look at the same strain in an auto flowering plant the genetic lines on both sides are usually completely different. Good luck and happy growing my friend!

Regularly 20 bucks a plant. $20 per liter. I bought 4 liters for for 50 bucks last round on eBay. You can usually find it for around $15 a liter if you shop around enough.

That is not using it in veg at the recommended 5ml per gallon. Only in flower. Starting at 5ml per gallon the first week of flower and adding 5ml to it every week until reaching 30ml per gallon in week 6 until flush. I have never used it in veg. It defini...  more

What up WP Homies... Taste and smell are a direct result of what is in your substrate . I read somewhere that a big group of growers in Northern Cali. that grew different strains, but the weed tasted and smell the same. After some research they found out that they were all using the same compost from the same supplier . You have received many good suggestions on how to bring out these terpenes . Choose wisely !Peace out

If i were you i would stick to photo period strains. The auto's that Nirvana sells are just not stable in my opinion. Maybe some of the other seeds banks have stable strains. If you can find stable autoflowering strains that flower for you that would be fine. Normally the photo's take about a month longer than the auto's, but you get a much larger yield and more potent smoke than some autoflowering strains. Peace

Most of the issues I see with autos are from grower error. I have been one that has screwed them up in the past myself.  I love autos. I add mycobloom to pro mix.. pop the seed and that is about it other than some alsakan fish nutrient  during veg., biobiz during bloom and calmag during the entire grow.  I now try to keep them a bit on the dry side during bloom as they taste better and the stress loads them up with crystals.  Nirvana's bubblelicious is a very pleasent tasting one. The Nothern light was the one I found peppery .. but it had three phenomes and along with the pepper there was mango flavor.. and I forgot now what else. All three phenomes had a different taste. Nearly forgot .. I do add molasses every so often to feed the soil fungus.  I no longer mess around with them. I went from getting 3 or so oz to over 6 just leaving the plants alone.. no LST no lollypopping nothing. Just plenty of room and light and the weight of the buds spreads them out. The only thing I do is tuck a few leaves and lightly pick off the few that block the light .. not many . I am convinced they do not like petro chems and being messed with.

I’ve never had the problem of all autos having the same tastes. I strictly grow in coco and have grown several different varieties. My last autoflower harvest I grew a jock Horror which is fruity and uplifting and an og Kush which is earthy and floral. I would try a different medium if I were you because having everything taste the same would suck balls
