by rocket about February 11 - report

Hello

I have lost my one digital electronic ballast 1000 watt, then i purchased locally magnetic ballast and it is not giving light as compare to other one, and also turning off every 5 minutes or not turning on, so i am considering going back to that shop and buying (2) 300 watt led, flash is the company, i have seen white there, shopkeeper said they have in yellow as well, any suggestions.

How old are the bulbs? Does the new ballast have a dimmable feature?

Bro for 69.00 bud you can get a Vipraspectra that is full spectrum and has U.V. & I.R. For the money you can't go wrong with them. They're not for a big space but will do a decent sized plant or 2 smaller ones. With the other hps you have it should wo...  more

If Amozon dont deliver there you might have to use whatever you can source locally. Good luck my friend because I know your up against time. As Just me said you might should use some cfl's till you get something going?

In order for your bulbs to work correctly you must use the right size ballast, such as a 1000 watt ballast for a 1000 watt bulb, and 600 watt ballast for a 600 watt bulb, etc. It can be dangerous to mix the ballast and different size bulbs because this can cause fires or blow the bulbs up. I would go with enough of the led lights to finish your grow and then regroup about what you need for the next time. I would go with the white light myself. I wish you the best. Peace

Sounds like the guy at your local shop doesn't know much about the difference in ballasts. The ballasts are very different (electronic/magnetic). I've been told that bulbs are specific to a certain ballast, and are not compatable with different types of ballasts. Can't you just tell the guy you have a magnetic ballast and you need a bulb ? Peace out Homie

It’s not electronic and magnetic. It’s digital and magnetic ballast. The MH and HPS bulbs are the same for either. Just pointing that out. No disrespect meant.

Have you considered up-grading your lighting ? Just a thought - I know I did andbelive it or not thinking on doing it again.   Inital expense is the issue but it's down hill on electrical cost with LED's  ------- went  from CFL's to HPS to LED's and now thinlking on geting  wattage LED

you can get cheap LED's under $90.00 - they do give very good grows and then go from there like you have they will work very well; have 2 of them in storage now (300 watt led's)

distance in veg 18 - 22 inches (20-22 sweet spot and in flower 10-12 inches (12 being the sweet spot - used 300's a while back - but they gave me very good yieds but as you know this depends on the cultivator

Its most difficult to answer your question because you don't mention your grow spaces size (Sq/ft) or how many plants. If you were using 1000watt, it doesn't seem to me that 2 300's would get it. Also be sure the 300 is draw at the plug. Many brands claim 300 watt when they are far less. One of the down falls of the LED industry.

I have 2 LEDs (Adanced Platinum 300) and they have been good lights but wish I went with more than 300s after using them for two years. I think the light penetration is lacking a little. If you can go a little higher I recommend it.

In my opinion, if your using 2- 1000 watt HPS I don’t think you would be happy with any 300 watt from the wall led. You might like the power bill better but probably not the yeilds. If I swap from my 1000 watt HID I will buy me a white led like a NextLight Mega 650 watts from the wall or something equivalent. They are around $1500.00. I will not grow under one of the purple leds. I will go back outside before I do that. My buddy has one he vegges with and I get a headache every time I am around that purple bastard. Even with the led glasses on. It’s no where near as bright as a 400 watt MH or HPS bulb. The only way I am changing from my HID is if I can get one that is a brighter and better penetrating light than I have already got! I got 2 bulbs in a row that would shut off after warming up. I think they were bumped around during shipping. You could shake them and hear stuff loose inside of them. Could he your ballast or bulb. I keep 2 extra MH bulbs, 2 extra HPS bulbs (all pretested by me with my ballast), and an extra ballast mounted in my grow room just in case I am in the middle of a grow and have a problem. Don’t want a light interruption! That can cause all kind of problems, if you have to wait a couple days on one in the mail. You can always just keep a few cfl bulbs hanging around to keep your plants hormones from getting out of balance from a dark period but it’s not gonna do much growing under them especially in flower. Good luck with your lighting and happy growing my friend!

I have no idea of the height for those leds. I keep my 1000 watt HPS at 24 inches above my canopy in flower.

It’s just personal preference. I have seen great grows with the leds but I can’t handle the pulple. Luckily, I use a MH/HPS so I need no other lighting and it needs no side lighting.
