leaf tips turning brown

by Harley about March 14 - report

Okay so here it is. This is only my second attempt at growing. I have some Blue Dream Fems and some Amnesia Fems growing. I noticed last night that there is some browning of the leaf tips and yellowing of of the leaves, though the pic makes it look a lot more yellow. I think that is because of the camera flash. But can someone please advise me. I have just bought a ph neautraliser at the local nursery. Is there any way for me to test the ph without having to purchase a costly PH tester? How can I resolve this before it causes damage to my ladies?

Thanking you in advance

Vinnie

From what I can see my first guess would be nutrient burn. What kind of soil are you using? And are you feeding any nutrients at this point?

From the way that leaves look you might be over watering too.

At the moment I have it in regular potting soil. I have been keeping an eye on the watering and have been trying to be gentle with that

I would say to let the soil dry out until you can put your finger to the second knuckle and be not more than slightly damp. Always err to the side of being dry. The only straight water for a couple days. Ph is very important and can be one of the most det...  more

I would just water feed for the next few times.. .checking your ph and give that epsom salts(cal mag) for everytime you feed.. watch her, she will tell you what she likes and doesn't like. If you are giving Nutes, maybe back them down some, like a 1/4 of the dose it calls for.

Epson salts Will not regulate ph. It will feed magnesium to your plant but if ph is off, it will be useless

it's his PH..I suggested to him early this morning he get a PH tester for testing his water before he waters...he is probably alkaline at this point..no nutrient uptake...so giving more salts will only harm more...I told him put some pure lemon drops in his next watering till he can tell what PH he is feeding to his girls...the yellow to brown tips is a dead giveaway no nute uptake...good luck brother

Harley, you said "I have just ordered a PH soil tester". Just want to make sure you understand...You need a ph tester that is made to test your water. It's water ph that is #1 need for decent growing. When you start adding nutrients, make sure you mix everything up, then check and adjust your ph.

Can you get the ph test strips at a local hardware or pool store in the meantime? You'll also need ph up and ph down. Don't get the stuff made for pools.
