Cross breeding

by Km0425 about December 8, 2017 - report

I am interested is trying to cross breed aurora indicia and rasberry cough. I know that aurora indicia is about 90% indicia and rasberry cough is about 70% sativa. I have researched the breeding lines that created both them. I am looking for any information and advice? Does anyone know if these two line have been cross breed before?

Hi Km, welcome to the portal. I'm guessing that cross has been made several times but I don't know who or when. I'm also guessing AI is one of the best strains to breed to...I've used it a bunch.

AI comes regular and feminized so you can get a pack of regs and breed all you want. Get some fem strains, including the RC, and go for it. I grow mostly indica so I'm biased toward aurora and, imo, you can't go wrong using it to breed with.

Good luck and let us know whatever we can help you with.

I am also biased toward aurora. I am planning on growing a male and female of each breed. So I can pollinate aurora with aurora and raspberry with raspberry and not worry about ordering more seeds if something happens to my clones. I can also pollinate ju...  more

Yeah, it would be a good idea to cross breed both ways because it will make a difference as to which sex gives or receives the pollen. I can tell you that an F1 between two auroras will give you some great seeds.

I was trying to do that about a year ago, but failed because I got paranoid and cut the male flowers before they could develop pollen. My plan was to make male flowers/pollen with colloidal silver on the fem mothers and pollenate clones. Both plants produced flowers on the branches I sprayed with CS but I cut the flowers to soon and all I got was bud.

If you pay close attention you can cut the branches with the flowers and let them finish in water but like high school you have to pull out at just the right time.

Let us know how it goes please

I am hoping to grow a male and female of each strain. I will only pollinate a couple of buds on each female. I am hoping I can get some pure aurora and raspberry seeds on one side of the female. Then on the other side of each female get seeds with aurora ...  more

Good luck with your F1 hybrid project. I did some breeding without the colidal silver. It sounds like you have the right idea with the clones. AI is afgan and northern lights so it sould be pretty stable. And I think the raspberry cough is IBL Cambodian x ice x haze #1. That might not be as stable as the ai. You will have quite the variety, but they will have F1 characteristics, vigorous and large.

The ice being a parent in rasberry cough does bother me when I look at crossing aurora and rasberry cough. Well inform everyone what my final outcome is.

Maybe go with the blue mystic. It is blueberry x (Flo x afgan). That with AI would have to give you some good phenos. If you don't I might.lol

Thank you! I will look into that as a alternative to breeding raspberry cough with aurora.
