This is exactly what I am talking about! You can't have an opinion if it conflicts with someone else's.

The reason I like this site is because normally you don't have to get into these ridiculous debates about who's way is better.

I think we all get along fine, what I think is most of us know enough about LED lights to get us in trouble...I'd really like to understand them but I think I'm just too damn old to grasp it....still recovering from Irma and really could give a crap right ...  more

I am going to purposely stay out of this one because I use real world and personal experience when it comes to lighting. I have done comparisons that give me my opinion. However, when I offered this before, I was told how wrong I was.

I will say this though. I am a little leary of many "experts" that talk about light only using measurements versus real-world experience

I too have had similar experiences when talking about LED Lights. Thats why I posted this for people to form their own opinion...Until they come up with an industry standard it will remain confusing at best...I'm interested in what you have to say DirtyD7...  more

For me its about watts per square ft and the footprint of the light.. This is the best sizing method I have come up with when looking for an LED Grow light...I'm sure I have a lot to learn...Oh yea cost is a factor as well..

Well, rather than get into a debate about lights I will tell you what I am currently using in my 4x8 and my 2x4 tents. I say this because I bought new lights a little while back and have seen a huge difference in my current grow.

I am so done with this subject that I will no longer entertain it. Especially when people are leary of factual numbers and research. Fuck it, buy what you want to. I'm tired of this already. Spend $1000+ and you'll be happy.

Okay.. from this chicks point of view.. Lights IMO are much like Purses.  You can spend 300 on a great leather coach purse that will do the job perfectly and last nearly a damn lifetime.. or you can pay thousands for a Prada purse.. so you can say... I have a prada.  Will it do the job.. sure... but are ppl getting suckered into spending thousands ... I think yes.

Different options work for different situations. HID / HPS is tried and true, but has heat to control and electric costs to consider. LEC has lots of great reviews out there now and of course LED comes in all kinds of quality and price points. The one thing to avoid, IMO, is paying 200 for a light today, 300 for a better one next year and finally 450 for the light you really needed in 3 years. Now you have almost a grand in lights. In this case, maybe a 2, 450 lights right off the bat would have been the smart play. With that said, some folks can only affor 200-300 and that is OK too.
