Water Types

Soil Growers, Do you use Tap Water , RO Water , Distilled Water, Rain water. Assume all the chlorine is removed. If you are organic please list it. If you are Synthetic Nutes please list as well. What are your thoughts and experiences in this area? Remember nobody is right or wrong on their  opinion. I have read so many post where instead of learning from everybody it turns into a pissing match instead of quality information. I really respect the opinions of people on WP so this is why I am asking here. Good Morning, I hope everybody had a good and safe 4th. Thank You.

    • I'm a well water guy. Which means no chlorine. BUT, I get all the minerals that leech into the groundwater.

I also have to keep an eye on my ph, as it tends to drift around, depending on how much rain we've had.

In soil, I run Nectar for the Gods (CLOSE to organic), and in hydro, I run GH.

          • I couldn't agree more on your take about "pissing match." WP is not really like that, and I think most people on here are just tryin to learn and help others. TBS... WATER...whatever type you use KNOW WHAT"S IN IT ! Water testing is around $25 and they'll E-mail you the results in about a week. After you do that, you can make adjustments to provide the best possible water for your plants. I'm also on a well and it contains lots of calcium and magnesium. PH is very important too. Happy watering

            • not a soil grower but i go thru a hell of a lot of water. if you use RO or distilled you know you are starting with a blank canvas. no nutrients or micro-nutrients. nothing. I used to use tap water regularly in DWC hydroponics until the city had a water problem. What i am saying is tap water, like well water or rain water, can be excellent depending on where youre at. there is an app (dont make me look for it) that will tell you what your tap water contains based on your county.

also, regardless of what type of water you use, you still need to check pH

              • If you had of asked that question on 1 of the other sites out there that's most likely what you would get a pissing match. I'm member of 4 sites and this is by far the most chilled people.

                • I use strictly Rain water, not because my well water is bad.  I Just have a few rain barrels. Also collect it and store during winter.  Ph 6.8-7 every time.               Outdoor grower.  using 2 yr old compost in dug out hole in the ground  (no chemicals/hormones) from local farmer.  Additionally making  compost teas and and worm casting top dressing.  Using my own concoction of bug and animal repellent. I spray around the plant like a protective shield.           New to inside growing!!  Love my tent/ hate my electric bill!!  For inside ,rain water/ Fox farm happy frog,Fox Farm nutes .
Yes, this is a great site. WP Rocks!!!!

                      • To me it seems really complicated. I only spend about 10 minutes a day with my plants so coco allows me to do that with good results.
