It looks like I am just about see some activity from the seeds I put in the plugs. Would they grow much faster if I use the 400w metal halide light compared to the 100 w (or less) CFL I am using now, or is the difference at this stage more marginal?
seedling are temperamental but i think you would be fine either way but i prefer my t5. 400w is a lot on seedlings just keep it up higher, gl make sure they are warm also to help grow.
Ok, I guess I will leave as it is for now then. I think the temperautre is ok, the T5/CFL gives off some warmth. Humidity was low though, 30% I think. Is that important? I have a humidifier somewhere if needed.
What you are doing seems to be working right now so I would let the seeds sprout and the leaves open before increasing the light. If they seem happy let them keep doing what they are doing. Imo
Peat without perlite or something similar can & will hold more water than needed.
I wouldn’t water them for a good wile & id get a fan blowing in the area there in but not directly at them. You could have them end up damping off if you get fusarium wilt.
Good question! I have the tray tilted so that the excess water run off to the bottom. and I lift it 3-4 times a day to water them. Could still be to wet, I dont know. Picture was taken right after watering.

Solid advice Tex, from Spider too! I will leave them as they are, for now.

Kind like an ebb and flow?
temps at 26c they will fly and maybe some perlight in your box :)
and man this f plants don t like water so mouch
Ok, I will keep them drier! Thanks for the advice!
but im noob :)
Sure, but the big growers are all stoned.
geta sprayer thn just mist
For seedlings, I would stick with the CFL's. But 100 watts are a little too weak Imo I would go for the 150 watts. Good luck
